Could this be BOR?

My daughter was born with an ear pit. They told us at the hospital that it was nothing to worry about. I thought it was cute and made her unique. She passed the newborn hearing screening. She had tubes as an infant in her ears, but it seems like every kid does these days. Now she is 4, and her hearing was tested twice at school and she failed at every frequency in her right ear. We took her to her pediatrician and they checked for fluid or ear wax and there was nothing that she could see that would cause the hearing loss so we've been referred to her ENT. I have a history of hearing loss in my family. My grandfather had hearing loss. He had 2 kids, and 1 has hearing loss. My father had 4 children and none of us are affected. I have the first grand children and 1 of my 2 daughters has hearing loss. Does this look like BOR? Is it possible to have BOR but not have hearing loss as a newborn? What should we ask the ENT when we see him? Should we have her kidneys looked at even though she doesn't seem to have a problem with them?

Thanks,

Lindsay
